The Collin College Dance Department offers a comprehensive approach to dance education, integrating physical, historical, cultural, and critical perspectives on dance as an art form. Our program supports dancers of all levels-from beginners to experienced performers-through studio classes in modern, jazz, ballet, and tap, emphasizing movement fundamentals, technique, and performance. Students explore the creative process through courses in improvisation and choreography, and Dance Appreciation fulfills the creative arts component in the core curriculum.
For those seeking an immersive experience, auditions for the Collin Dance Ensemble (CDE) are held before the fall semester. CDE performs contemporary modern dance and represents Collin College annually at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conference. The ensemble has earned gala recognition eleven times-an unprecedented achievement for a two-year program-and performed at the ACDA national conference in 2008.
Whether you’re dancing for personal enrichment, pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in dance, or preparing to transfer to a university, Collin College provides high-quality instruction and affordable tuition.
