WLDG 1435 - Introduction to Pipe Welding

An introduction to welding of pipe using the shielded metal arc welding process (SMAW), including electrode selection, equipment setup, and safe shop practices. Emphasis on various welding positions and electrodes.

Prerequisite(s): WLDG 1428.
Corequisite(s): WLDG 2443.
Note: Welding classes require extended periods of time standing in place, lifting heavy weights (up to 60 pounds repeatedly), reaching, bending, and working around open flames and intense heat for extended periods of time.
