The Associate of Arts - Communications Field of Study provides students with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of effective communication. This program emphasizes a variety of skills, including verbal and nonverbal communication, intercultural competence, and interpersonal and professional communication. Graduates of this program are well-equipped for careers in fields such as human resources, education, project management, public relations, and nonprofit management. This program also serves as a strong foundation for further study in Communication or related disciplines. Check with transfer institutions before registering for directed and open electives to make sure the courses will be applicable to your bachelor’s degree at the transfer institution.

1. Select course with one credit hour to meet 60 credit hour degree requirement.

2. Directed Electives for the Communications Field of Study are chosen by each transfer university in Texas that offers Bachelor’s degrees in Communications.

         Review the directed electives for multiple Texas academic institutions at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board website.
