Collin College’s Commercial Music program equips students with the skills and knowledge required for successful careers in fields that rely on audio technology. The program offers training in performance, audio engineering, sound reinforcement, electronic music, composition, and songwriting.

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Commercial Music is a comprehensive two-year degree that combines general education with specialized training in audio technology, music business and foundational musicianship. For students seeking more focused credentials, the program offers three certificate options and an Occupational Skills Award.

The Audio Engineering Studio Track focuses on recording, mixing, and mastering techniques to prepare students for careers as professional mixing engineers.

The Audio Engineering Live Sound Track emphasizes the design, setup, and operation of sound reinforcement systems for live events, equipping students with the expertise to excel as live sound engineers.

The Music Business Certificate addresses the demands of the modern music industry, preparing students for roles in marketing, management, artist promotions, concert and tour planning, merchandising, and social networking.

The Occupational Skills Award provides the basic foundational skills to work at an entry-level position in the field of Commercial Music in only three courses. Each course is designed to provide technical, creative, and collaborative skills critical for careers in audio production, live sound engineering, and music technology.
