Collin College provides general academic courses and electives for students who plan to transfer to a college or university. Because of the various transfer requirements at colleges and universities, and to ensure enrollment in appropriate courses, students should verify course transferability and degree applicability with a Collin College academic advisor and/or the college or university that they plan to attend.

To earn an associate degree, complete the 42 credit hour General Education Core, and 18 credit hours of general studies electives and the Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree requirements.

Check with your transfer institution before registering for general studies electives to make sure your courses will be degree applicable to your bachelor’s degree at the transfer institution.

The Collin College Dance Department is a place for all movers to study, connect, engage, and explore dance. We support the beginning and the experienced dancer through dance studio classes in modern, jazz, ballet, and tap focusing on movement fundamentals, technique, and performance. The dance curriculum also includes courses in improvisation and choreography.

Students seeking an immersive experience in dance may audition for the student dance company, Collin Dance Ensemble (CDE). CDE performs contemporary modern dance and attends and performs at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conference annually. CDE has received gala recognition eleven times, which is unprecedented for a two-year program, and performed at the ACDA national conference in 2008. Auditions for the dance company are before the fall semester.

The Collin College Dance Department’s comprehensive approach to dance education includes the physical, historical, critical, cultural, and fundamental elements of dance as an art form. Whether you are dancing for personal enrichment, pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in dance, or preparing for a university, Collin College offers a variety of classes with affordable tuition.
