EMSP 1371 - Introduction to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Introduction to Emergency Medical Services including: history, organization and function, legal aspects, and ethics. This course is an overview of human anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, airway control, and infection control techniques. Other topics that will be covered are lifespan development, dealing with veteran mental health, vital signs, recognizing terrorism, and hazardous materials environments, as well as safely lifting and moving patients, basic pharmacology, and safe ambulance operation.
Prerequisite(s): Consent of Associate Dean/Director.
